London 2010 Miracles Conference Review!

I wanted to use this opportunity to catch you up on all of the excitement of the Miracles Conference in London the weekend of 16th and 17th October as it was such an inspiration!

Saturday morning was a gorgeous crisp, clear, sunny autumn day that was filled with excitement as everyone started arriving at the venue for a good seat and loving connection with brothers and sisters of like-mind. The book table was fabulously displayed with a wealth of spiritual wisdom and beautiful background music filled the air…

Once we were all seated, the morning started with words of welcome by Ian Patrick of the Miracle Network and a lovely prayerful meditation offered by the esteemed interfaith minister Annie Blampied.

The first amazing key talk of the day was given by the incredible Earl Purdy and was humorously titled, “How to Have Loving, Healing, Thrilling, Spiritually Orgasmic Relationships.” This talk was a huge success in that it presented key Miracle topics particularly about ‘special relationships’ while firmly holding the audience captivated in laughter, thoughtfulness and fun!

Once everyone settled back down after Earl’s talk, Barbara J. Hunt stepped up and sang some of her hauntingly melodious tunes with her guitar. Her voice was so pristine it really did transport one to a completely different place and time.

Next on the agenda was the well known author Robert Perry with his talk “What is a Miracle? Do we Really Know?” His talk was highly informative and interesting as he revealed insights into some little known documents of Helen Schucman’s that discussed ‘giving’ of ourselves in the material world (as opposed to just thinking) and how it can contribute greatly to our spiritual development and understanding of Course principles.

After Robert and just before lunch, Annie Blampied presented her official talk of the weekend titled, “Who Walks with Me?” This profound talk held a small secret that Annie said she chose not to highlight in the title that reflects our love/hate relationship with Jesus. This talk gave the audience a chance to interact with one another in small groups and really examine our conditioned relationship with Jesus and to experience a process of forgiving him of all of the false ideas we subconsciously hold about him (according to ACIM).

Lunch was served around 1:00 pm and was awesome! The whole placed buzzed with chatter, deep discussion, eating, networking, book and literature perusal as well as preparation for the talks coming up…

After lunch, Martin and I delivered our talk from the main hall “Living the Course Everyday.” We focused on the two lessons of the day (289 and 290) that highlight the need to release the past and maintain awareness fully in the present if we are to be guided by Spirit and awaken to our eternal Light. We then took readings and questions from the audience based on the small “Miracles Cards” that we passed out at the beginning (everyone was invited to keep their card as a souvenir) and reflected on the related text and insights. Our time to share with such a loving group filled our hearts with joy and once again confirmed our commitment to serve as teachers of God.

Heather Pozzo gave her workshop simultaneously in the East Studio titled, “Healing our Minds by Changing our Minds” which had quite a good turnout. Heather is a fantastic speaker and teacher and is really dedicated to raising awareness for seekers of truth…

After some more deeply beautiful music by Barbara J. Hunt, we were blessed by the wonderful and light-hearted presence of travelling spiritual mystic David Hoffmeister. David talked about his experience with the Course and how he was eventually called to be of service full time and to travel the globe spreading the Light of Peace, Love and Joy. He shared how he is constantly being guided by Holy Spirit’s Voice and encouraged us to really listen and follow our own Inner Calling. He was really quite an inspiration!

Finally one of my favourite all time Course speakers Nick Davis stepped up to the plate with one of his very eloquent and insightful talks titled, “Integration.” Nick never ceases to surprise audiences with his laid-back style and gentle humour. His talk concentrated on our need to integrate Peace and Trust into our everyday experiences and to not just read the Course but to actually LIVE the ideas. Nick holds workshops at the Centre for Inner Peace in Worcester and I would highly recommend attending when possible.

Lastly, all of the speakers formed a panel to take questions from the audience. This is really my favourite time because it allows all of the speakers and participants to come together and be guided by Holy Spirit as one to seemingly asking questions and answer them. During this time we are once again reminded that it is when we JOIN that minds are healed.

As the first day came to a close, hugs, kisses and handshakes were all about. Plans were being confirmed for dinner, travel and accommodations and for the day ahead on Sunday.

Some of the highlights on Sunday featured Ian Patrick and his wonderful talk that emphasised eight spiritual aspects of Course teachings and the dynamic Jason Chan. Jason’s talk and demonstration, “The Tao of Miracles” blew everyone away with his upbeat tone, humour and of course the ‘Tai Chi’ demonstration that rocked the nation!!!

Overall, this was a very special weekend that fried, frazzled, challenged, tranquilised, stretched the imagination, deeply touched, connected and corrected perception for all in attendance. I for one am really looking forward to 2012.
