This week we practice the idea of accepting Peace and Joy as ours through the miraculous practice of true giving and receiving as exemplified through the ACIM workbook lesson 91: God’s Peace and Joy are Mine. During the reading and exercise we concentrated on bringing to mind any brother (including oneself) that we might be holding a grievance against and actively forgiving them by reciting the words, “My brother, God’s peace and joy I give to you so that I may have it as mine.”
After the meditation we had a good open discussion about the idea of giving and receiving. Some noted that in this particular lesson giving seems to be criteria for receiving. In other words, unless we give we will not receive. This concept can be easily clarified by explaining that giving and receiving are actually one and the same (which actually comes in lesson 108).
As we accept that all is ours already, we naturally extend this love and light to others. For the sake of our practice, the lesson instructs us to become active participants in the giving and receiving process only to help us deepen our understanding and experience of the peace and joy that is naturally ours… already! Peace and joy is our inheritance and could never be withheld only extended as it is affirmed by our giving.
